Council picks manager finalists

At their May 5 meeting, Village Council members announced the three finalists for the position of Village manager. The finalists are David Elmer of Cincinnati; Patti Bates of Milford, Ohio; and Robert Kellogg of Palm City Florida.

The three finalists, along with two other finalists, came to Yellow Springs last week-end for interviews with members of Council and the citizen committee that has assisted in the manager search. According to Council President Karen Wintrow, the final three candidates were unanimous choices of both groups.

The three finalists will come to town for a public forum on Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bryan Center gym. Boxes have been placed downtown at Tom’s Market, the Senior Center and the library for villagers to submit questions to ask the finalists at the public forum.

Bates is current Village administrator of Williamsburg, Ohio, and former director of administration of the Kenton County Detention Center in Covington, Kentucky. Elmer is the Township administrator of Pierce Township in Ohio, a position he’s held since 2006; before that, he was Village administrator in the village of Moscow, Ohio. Kellogg is the former Town manager of Sewall’s Point, Florida, a position he held from 2006 to 2013; before that, he was City manager in Rittman, Ohio.

A more detailed story on the manager finalists will be in the May 8 Yellow Springs News.
