Flooding follows storm
- Published: May 22, 2014
On Thursday morning, many Yellow Springers were dealing with unwanted water after a fierce rainstorm dumped inches of rain on the village. People in village coffee shops were having the same conversation: how villagers were dealing with flooded basements and unwanted ponds in the lawn.
According to the Dayton Daily News, from about 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night, storms dumped rain that ranged from five inches in Tipp City to 2.3 inches in Fairborn.
In Yellow Springs, flooding caused the closure of several roads overnight, according to dispatcher Larry Campbell. Water poured over the edges of DeWine Pond, flooding Fairfield Pike and making the road impassable. Corry Street and Polecat Road were also closed for part of the night, although by morning, all of the roads were open again.
