Kelli Weaver-Miner

Kelli Weaver-Miner, age 44, of Champaign, Ill., passed away in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, May 25.

Kelli was a former geologist with the Illinois State Geological Survey and a homemaker. She was a Battelle Scholar, recipient of the W.E.B. DuBois Talented Tenth award, AKA member, and graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. She received her master’s degree at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

Kelli treasured spending time with family and friends and was cherished for her sunny disposition, impish humor and feisty determination. She was an avid knitter and genealogist, loved gardening and nature, and saw the beauty that passed most people by.

She is survived by her husband, James; children, Clay James and Morgan Greene Miner; parents, Warren and Rita Weaver, of Columbus; paternal grandmother, Janice Weaver; uncle Ken (Ingrid) Weaver; aunt Robin Weaver; and Yellow Springs family, Charles (Charlene) Buster, Carole Buster Cobbs, Danita Scott, Autumn Coleman, Andrea Waterman, Sharde Scott and Azsa Coleman. Other cousins are Damon (Emily) Buster and Asa (Sarah) Buster. A celebration of life service will be held in Yellow Springs, a place she loved visiting throughout her too short life. The celebration will be held at the Glen Helen Building, 405 Corry St., on July 12, 2014.

I am Kellie’s Sorority sister and am very sad to find out she has transitioned. I pray her family is still holding dear to fond memories and will always remember her smile.
