Glen Helen acquires Camp Greene
- Published: January 15, 2015
Glen Helen purchased the former Camp Greene from the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio last week with the help of grant funding and a local funding match. The 30-acre property on Grinnell Road south of Bryan Park Road is contiguous with the preserve on two sides and includes a 3,200-square-foot lodge as well as other rustic camping facilities.
The Glen received $500,000 in grants from the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund and the Upper River Fund of the Dayton Foundation for the purchase, which with renovation costs is expected to total $668,000. The Glen hopes the remainder of the project cost will come from members and donors of the Glen Helen Association.
The Glen had been planning to acquire the camp for over a year.
