- Published: June 4, 2015
Kimberly (Murphy) Alanzo passed away this Saturday, May 30. She was the dearly beloved daughter of Wanita Murphy, former owner of the Emporium for almost 30 years. Kim frequently visited Yellow Springs, and she was like a carbon copy of Nita: smart, vibrant, funny redhead, the list goes on!
She is mourned by many family and friends: her husband of 30 years this May 18, John Alanzo; their children Jerimiah and Jessica; her younger brother Mike Murphy, former dean of admissions at Antioch College and his wife Karen Gunderson; her nephew Scott Murphy, who currently resides in Dayton; brothers Greg and Doug and their families in Chicago and Berkeley, respectively; father Dr. Thomas Murphy; step-mother Kathleen, also in the Chicago area; sister Cheryl Murphy; Ron and Pat Siemer of Yellow Springs, who were like a second set of parents, to name just a few who will miss her deeply.
Kim worked as a nurse. She was kind, caring, loving and nurturing. Services to celebrate her life cut short will be held in the Chicago area Saturday, June 6.
