David Luttrell

David Huston Luttrell, age 79, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday morning in Xenia. He was born in Xenia on Nov. 22, 1935, the son of Edwin H. and Martha Gay (Lampert) Luttrell.

David was a 1953 Graduate of Xenia High School. Together with his father, David ran Luttrell’s Super Valu Grocery in Yellow Springs and Bellbrook. He retired from the J.O. Harner Supply and was employed at McColaugh Funeral Home, Inc. for a number of years. He was a member of the Old Timers Club, the Miami Valley Steam Threshers Association and the Carillon Park Rail and Steam Society in Dayton. David enjoyed “tinkering” with things. He could be spotted running the wooden shingle maker during the Old Timers Day or on weekends during the summer he operated his model train at Carillon Park.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Luttrell.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (St. John) Luttrell; son and daugther-in-law Mike and Laura Luttrell of Centerville; grandson Greg (Jill) Luttrell of Fairmont, Va.; great-grandson Mason Gregory Luttrell; siblings Mark (Linda) Luttrell of Xenia, Jon K. (JoAnn) Luttrell of Evansville, Ind., Susan Luttrell of Xenia and Jean (Jack) Post of Beavercreek; sister-in-law Mary Luttrell of Xenia; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were held privately, followed by burial in Woodland Cemetery in Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greene County Library Foundation, c/o Greene Giving, 941 W. Second Street, Xenia, Ohio 45385, or the charity of your choice.
