Wrap up the holiday season in Yellow Springs

The holiday season is wrapping up — but there’s still fun to be had in Yellow Springs as the village gets ready to welcome in 2016.

The annual YSAC Art Jumble will have its half-off sale Dec. 30–Jan. 3. For more information on the sale, visit www.ysartscouncil.org/event/calendar.

On Dec. 31, the YS Dharma Center will hold its annual New Years Eve World Peace Meditation Celebration, 7–8 p.m. The evening begins with a half-hour meditation, followed by chanting, intention setting and ringing out the gong. The celebration ends with a fire ceremony. All are welcome.

The traditional New Year’s ball drop will be held as usual downtown on Dec. 31. Those who want to usher in the new year are asked to meet at Short Street and Xenia Avenue at 11:30 p.m.

And when the festivities come to a close, the Village Public Works Department, in collaboration with the Boy Scouts, will conduct a “curb-side” Christmas tree pick-up service on Saturday, Jan. 9. Those who would like to have their trees picked up are asked to place trees as close to the street as possible (without blocking traffic or parking) by 9 a.m. on that morning; any trees set out after this time will not be picked up by the crew. All ornaments, garland and tinsel should be removed from the trees. For more information, contact the Village at 767-3402.

Happy New Year!
