Senior Center presents third annual flash mob

On Wednesday, May 25, the YS Senior Center presented its third annual flash mob performance in recognition of National Senior Health and Fitness Day. Short Street was closed to automobile traffic as Senior Center members, accompanied by students from the Antioch School and members of the community, danced to “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind & Fire. A crowd of people gathered to watch the dance, which was choreographed by Lynn Hardman.

Now in its 23rd year, National Senior Health and Fitness Day is celebrated each year by tens of thousands of older adults across the country who celebrate the day by participating in events and activities that promote healthful living. At last year’s flash mob event, YS Mayor Dave Foubert recognized the efforts of the Senior Center and National Senior Health and Fitness Day with a proclamation, which stated that “it is appropriate (indeed awesome!) to honor our older adults for their many contributions to the vitality and strength of our community … .”
