McKinney students show off machines, humanitarian concerns

McKinney School seventh graders will present Rube Goldberg machines that they have built on Friday, Feb. 3, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. in the McKinney/YSHS cafeteria.

Rube Goldberg machines are named for cartoonist Rube Goldberg, who often created comics depicting extraordinarily complicated machines completing simple tasks, such as the one below:

The students built their Rube Goldberg machines to explore energy transfers, and to raise awareness of humanitarian causes important to them, including deforestation, animal cruelty, bullying, support for veterans and more. The community is invited to attend and learn more about the construction of the devices and the causes the students are supporting. Those attending the presentation will receive free admission to both JV and Varsity boys basketball games that night.
