Yellow Springs will celebrate Pride on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday around the village.

Celebrate Pride this weekend

The 8th annual YS Pride Celebration will be held Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, June 27, 29 and 30, in various locations around the village.

The festivities will begin with Thirsty Thursday at the YS Brewery on Thursday, June 27, 7–9 p.m. Guest speaker Ramona Peel of Equitas Health will present “Stonewall and the History of LGBT Pride.”

On Saturday, June 29, Village Council President Brian Housh will kick off the day’s events at 11 a.m. at the Bryan Center, followed by a performance by Novena. Along with food, beer and vendors, music performances will be held throughout the day at the Bryan Center, with the Dayton Gay Men’s Chorus at 1 p.m., Ilora Skye at 1:30 p.m., Jackie O and the Four Queens at 2 p.m. and Kyleen Downes at 3 p.m. Mayor Pam Conine will make a proclamation at 4:15 p.m., followed by the annual parade at 5 p.m.

A dance party will begin the evening’s merriment at 6 p.m., followed by a free screening of a documentary about The Rubi Girls at the Little Art Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Rubi Girls are a Dayton-based drag troupe who have raised over $1 million for HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ related causes; donations will be welcomed at the screening to contribute to these causes. The Rubi Girls will take the stage at Peach’s for a performance at 10 p.m.

On Sunday, June 30, Pride will wrap up with a picnic lunch at Mills Lawn from 2 to 4 p.m., with music by Kelly Zullo.
