The annual Independence Day celebrations will begin on Thursday, July 4, with a parade through downtown Yellow Springs. The parade will begin at 3 p.m., departing from the Friends Care parking lot, and traveling down Xenia Avenue. Those planning to participate in the parade are asked to line up at Friends Care at 2:15 p.m.

In the evening, the annual fireworks display will begin at Gaunt Park at dusk. The Community Band will play at 8 p.m. in the park before the fireworks, entertaining the crowd with a selection of music by Alfred Reed, Sousa, Dizzy Gillespie and a set in commemoration of D-Day. In the event of rain, the band will play at First Presbyterian Church.

Donations will be collected by the Odd Fellows to help pay for the roughly $7,700 cost of the fireworks; community members may also donate in advance via mail at Odd Fellows Fireworks Fund, 261 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs, OH, 45387.
