Justice delayed
- Published: June 4, 2020
Yellow Springs was one of more than 350 cities and towns across the country to hold a demonstration after the killing of George Floyd by police in Minnesota earlier in the week.
An estimated crowd of 400 lined Xenia Avenue near Limestone Street to show solidarity for people of color suffering from ongoing police brutality, according to organizer Jen Boyer. Speakers included Steve McQueen, Sommer McGuire, Samantha Seimer, Fred Lambert, Lori Askeland and Cheryl Durgans, with music provided by the World House Choir and the Yellow Springs Freedom, Peace and Justice Drummers.
Another action is set for the same location Saturday, June 6, at 1 p.m.
