Rex Barger died in the presence of friends on Nov. 9, 2014, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, after leading a full, unusual and meaningful life.

Village artists Beth Holyoke and Käthi Seidl completed a pilot project in December, giving new life to concrete trash cans that had been taken out of commission a few years ago. A campaign to secure sponsorship for additional cans is now underway.

Mary Margaret Steele Morgan, eighth child born Sept. 10, 1925, to Robert and Mamie Beckett Steele of Alderson, W. Va., died on Jan. 30, at age 89 in Yellow Springs at Friends Care.
