  • Seeking baseball coaches

    Yellow Springs Major League is seeking coaches for the 2008 season and a baseball commissioner to run the league. Those interested in either position can contact Chris Lloyd at 767-9318.

  • Major League sign-ups

    A sign-up event for the Yellow Springs Major League Baseball season will take place at the Gaunt Park field on Friday, May 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, May 10, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Boys and girls ages 11 to 14 are eligible to play.

  • McKinney track team sets records

    The McKinney School track team saw four records fall this past weekend at the Troy Christian Invitational on Saturday, May 3. Leading the way for the boys team was eighth grader Logan Norris, who won all three events he entered and set new school records.

  • Bulldog sports roundup

    Rain hampered much of the Bulldog baseball team’s late-season games last week, but allowed Yellow Springs a 7–6 win against Troy Christian on Monday, May 5, to make up for a 5–0 loss to the same team the preceding Thursday, May 1.

  • Soccer Inc. camps to start in June

    Yellow Springs Soccer Inc. (YSSI) will host summer soccer camps during the week of June 16–20 for kids in Yellow Springs and surrounding areas. This will be the third year for these locally held soccer camps.

  • Sea Dogs to hold stroke clinic in May

    The Sea Dogs will sponsor a competitive swimming stroke clinic from 6–7 p.m., on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning Monday, May 5, with the last session on Wednesday, June 4. The clinic will be staffed by Sea Dogs coaches, parents, and volunteers.

  • Register for Minor League baseball

    Registration for the 2008 Yellow Springs Minor League Youth Baseball Program will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Gaunt Park. Boys and girls ages 7 to 11 are eligible to participate as long as they won’t turn 12 before July 31.

  • Alumni ball game set

    The Yellow Springs High School baseball team will host its annual alumni game on Monday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at Gaunt Park.

  • Bulldog sports roundup

    The Bulldogs kicked up an exciting week on the diamond last week, taking down Emmanuel Christian 10–3 on Tuesday, April 22, and making a valiant effort the following Thursday at home against league leader Dayton Christian, who beat the ’Dogs 10–1. Saturday’s games at Fairborn were rained out.

  • Richard Praeger

    Richard Quinn Praeger, formerly of New York City, Paris and San Francisco, died on April 22, in Yellow Springs, where he resided since 2006. He was 83.
