    The Bulldog football team lost 33–20 to the Marion Catholic Irish on Sept. 12, but came away from the game on Friday, Sept. 19, with an exciting 23–22 Homecoming victory against the Ridgemont Gophers.

    Alexis Onfroy opened his junior season in cross country by leading the Bulldogs to victory at the 9th annual Ambassador Classic in Xenia on Saturday, Sept. 6.

    The YSHS girls soccer team won one and lost one last week. Beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 26, Yellow Springs evinced a 2–0 victory over Tri-County North, but lost to Sidney Lehman 7–0 on Saturday, Aug. 30, to put the team at 3–1 for the season.

  • YSHS fitness open

    The fitness and weightlifting room at Yellow Springs High School will be open regularly for public use this fall, beginning this weekend. The hours this week are Saturday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 2, 3, and 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.

    The YSHS girls soccer team came out of the gates blazing this year to beat Urbana 3–1 in the first game on Thursday, Aug. 21, and take down Middletown Christian 5–3 on Saturday, Aug. 23.

  • Fun Run winners take the lead

    Jacob Gunderkline, a senior on the Yellow Springs High School cross country team, picked up the win Sunday evening in the 23rd annual Village Fun Run. The USATF National Junior Olympic champion in the 3,000m race walk, Gunderkline ran this two-mile test of fitness in 10 minutes and 47 seconds.

  • Peters new athletic director at YSHS

    Long time cross country head coach and assistant track coach Vince Peters was approved by the school board at its Aug. 14 meeting as the new Yellow Springs High School/McKinney School athletic director. Peters has coached running at the high school for 25 years.

  • Youth rec soccer signup for fall set

    Registration for the Yellow Springs youth recreational soccer program will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, 9 a.m., at Gaunt Park. A skills clinic will follow at 9:45, featuring instruction from the Yellow Springs High School girls and boys varsity soccer teams. All youth players first grade and older should plan on attending the clinic.

  • Bulldog golfers take first match of season

    The results of the first golf match of the season, played Monday, Aug. 11, are Yellow Springs High School (178), Troy Christian (181), Xenia Christian (198). The Bulldogs scores were Max Fleishman (senior), 43; Carl Wiener (sophomore), 44; Joe Fugate (senior), 45; and Lucas Donnell (junior), 46.

  • Fun Run Sunday

    The Yellow Springs High School cross country team will sponsor the annual Village Fun Run on Sunday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m., as an opener to the cross country team’s parent-coaches meeting at 5:45 that evening at the high school.
