YS girls outplay Springfield to win

The YSHS girls varsity basketball team knocked in 23 foul shots during the team’s 45–40 win over Springfield at home on Saturday. The Division IV Bulldogs were confident from the stripe (23–28), which gave them the advantage over Division II Springfield, despite turning over the ball 16 times to Springfield’s four.
YSHS took a 20–12 lead going into halftime until the visitors climbed back into the game and within one of the Bulldogs. The teams were evenly matched, both bringing down 32 rebounds in the context. However, Sprinfield only scored three foul shots to the Bulldogs’ 23.
YS point guard Elizabeth Smith led her team with 18 points (10–14 from the line) and Shanice Wright added 15 points (7–9 from the line).
