2020 Yellow Springs Holiday Giving & Gifting Catalogue
- Published: November 19, 2020
In this pandemic year, although it would be easy to shop this year from a monopolistic online retailer I won’t name, buying — and giving — local will yield many more dividends for our community. Every gift comes with a bonus benefit: a strong and healthy community in which to live. Think of it as an investment in your neighbors, instead of more money for a multibillionaire.
The News made a big change this year to our annual holiday flier: it is now a shopping guide. Inserted in the Nov. 19, 2020 issue of the News is the Yellow Springs Giving & Gifting Catalogue. The News has never produced a catalogue before, but figured now was the ideal time to do so, as many people may feel uncomfortable spending long hours shopping in person this holiday season.
We hope you will peruse the incredible variety of products in the catalogue, then shop online, curbside or carefully in-person in our safe, local shops. Another benefit of the catalogue: you now know there are at least three different local establishments where you can buy your tarot cards.

It’s a very nice catalog. I like the way it makes the sound of pages turning 🙂 That was a nice thing to do so people can get a feel for what to buy and relieve some of the stress of extended shopping. Christmas always makes me a little sad and that seems particularly true this year, so seeing a village strive to make things better for its inhabitants is a welcomed pleasantry. Yellow Springs has a spirit that shines throughout the year. Thank you for that.
There aren’t enough links for online shopping. More retailers need to go online in the village or the village needs a website that lists all stuff that’s available for delivery because there are MANY people still not venturing into the stores and when the media shows groups of people without masks at gatherings to protest or whatever it just makes it worse.
