Mary Sylvia Ware was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to William and Harriet Gooden on Aug. 11, 1922. Mary passed away into the Lord’s care at the age of 99 on Feb. 7, 2022, at Friends Care Community in Yellow Springs.

As the pandemic winds into its third year, downtown Yellow Springs businesses continue to adapt. The News recently spoke with the owners of five restaurants about the ongoing effects and obstacles of the pandemic, and will check in with other village businesses in future issues.

The trails of Glen Helen Nature Preserve will be closed temporarily Sunday, Feb. 20, and Monday, Feb. 21.

The Yellow Springs Board of Education will meet in it’s new location, the Graham Conference Room, on Thursday, February 10, from 7 to 9 p.m.
