They did it again: the Minor League Winds Cafe Indians repeated as regular season champions, finishing the 2014 season with a 7–1 record after taking a pair of games last week to seal the top spot for the second straight year.

Last Friday’s soaking rain played havoc with last week’s Minor League schedule, wiping out both Saturday games, leaving only a single completed game for the week as the only other scheduled contest was a forfeit.

Despite suffering their first loss of the season, The Winds Cafe Indians’ 4–1 record was good enough to hold on to a slim half-game lead over the Sam and Eddie’s Open Books Reds record of 4–2.

The shortened holiday week and another late afternoon thunderstorm resulted in only a single minor league game completed last week, but it was probably the most exciting one of the season yet.

The 2014 Minor League season kicked off Saturday, June 14, with a decisive 14–5 win by the Sam and Eddie’s Open Books Reds over the Tom’s Market Pirates. The Reds jumped out to an early 2–1 first inning lead and never looked back.

The Minor League Indians finished out the season last week as league champions with a 12–0 undefeated record, and then just held off a surging Pirates team to also take the post-season tournament championship on Sunday evening.
