Saturday, Oct. 24, is National Drug Take Back Day, when designated law enforcement agencies accept unwanted and unneeded prescription or over-the-counter drugs so they can be disposed of safely.

Bonnie Mae (Burke) Venters, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., died suddenly after a medical procedure at Mayo Clinic, Fla., on Sept. 12, 2020. She was 78.

Meribel Moberly Blanchard, 93, a former Yellow Springs resident, died Oct. 14, 2020, in Midland, Texas.

Robert Duane Powell, age 79, of Morehead City, N.C., died peacefully on Oct. 14 at Creekside Senior Living in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by family

Ellen Frances Pillard died on Oct. 8, 2020, at the Converse Home in Burlington, Vt. Her death came from Alzheimer’s disease.

James Pavey Wilson, 88, of Lake Suzy, Fla. (formerly of Springfield, Ohio; Leroy, Ohio; and Sabina, Ohio) passed away on Oct. 13, 2020, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

After the announcement that Greene County had been elevated to level 3, or “red,” by the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, the YS Senior Center has halted its plan to reopen for in-person events. The elevation to level 3 indicates “very high exposure or spread” of COVID-19.
