    Jana R. Banks, M.D., of Springfield, passed away in her home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 5. She was 47. The daughter of Robert I. and Julia A. (Wald) Banks, she was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

  • Bulldog Sports Round-up

    On Tuesday, March 3, the YSHS boys basketball team upset Bethel, the number-three seed in the Division IV sectional tournament, in a 55–50 victory. The Bulldogs play next on Friday, March 6, against Southeastern, the number-two seed, at Vandalia Butler High School, 8 p.m.

    Grace M. Ayrsman of Yellow Springs passed away on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Trinity Community in Beavercreek. She was 90.

    At the recent annual Osman Hooper contest for weekly newspapers, the Yellow Springs News won first place in editorials, features and original columns, along with awards in advertising, special editions and in-depth reporting.

  • Bulldog Sports Round-up

    True to their status as favorites in their respective district Division II races on Saturday, Feb. 21, freshmen Elizabeth Malone and Erika Chick did not let down their fans. The two lone swimmers for Yellow Springs High School managed three first-place finishes and one third-place finish to come in 11th out of 38 schools in the southwest district.

    William Warren See of Springfield died Saturday, Feb. 21. He was 93. He was born June 15, 1915, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, a son of William N. and Estell (Ford) See.

    John Eric Siemer, known to his family and many friends as Eric, died at home in Yellow Springs on Feb. 19. He was 48. Known for his cheerful, smiling demeanor, his quick willingness to help others, and his eclectic catalog of interests, Eric was loved by many in Yellow Springs and surrounding communities.

    When Erika Chick and Elizabeth Malone swim, they swim to win, and win big. The pair of YSHS freshmen set meet records in the 200 and 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly events at the sectional swim meet held at Trotwood Madison High School on Saturday, Feb. 14.
