Rollin Brewer, aged 86, died peacefully in Sedona, Ariz., after several illnesses. Born May 6, 1923, he died June 11 of this year.
Rollin first came to Yellow Springs as a freshman at Antioch College in 1941. After military service in Japan and Korea, and after marrying Dilsey Arthur in 1944, Rollin graduated with a degree in engineering in 1948. After several jobs in the Dayton area, Rollin accepted a job with Antioch’s co-operative education department, where he placed thousands of students in field term jobs across the United States. Working with students was a great joy, and he took pleasure in finding jobs well suited to students’ interests. Rollin was active in tennis, bridge and local politics during his time in Yellow Springs, as well as raising three children: Glenn, who now lives in Marietta, Ga.; Allyn (Babitch), who lives in San Jose, Calif.; and Evan, who lives in Farmington, Minn.
Rollin moved to Sedona in 1977 after eight years at Beloit College in Wisconsin. Any of Rollin’s friends who would like more information about him or his memorial are invited to e-mail his son Evan at evan.brewer@district196.org.
