  • WYSO brings StoryCorps

    When Neenah Ellis was growing up in northern Indiana, she regularly listened to Studs Terkel interview guests on Chicago radio. The legendary oral historian became an inspiration and role model, according to Ellis, who is now general manager of WYSO Public Radio.

  • No dog park at Ellis Park

    Ellis Park, the home of what many villagers consider a bird sanctuary and nature preserve, will not be the site of a dog park after all, following the April 19 Village Council meeting. At the meeting Council members voted to rescind the March vote that okayed Ellis as the dog park location, as had been proposed by two Yellow Springs High School seniors.

  • School district seeks levy to ride out recession deficit

    A school tax levy is “a community thing,” according to organizers who are bringing Issue 5, an $8.7 mill renewal emergency levy, to the ballot on May 4.

  • Summer track club to start

    The Miami Valley Track Club will start its summer track and field season on Monday, May 10. The first week will be for elementary school age athletes only.

  • Rec baseball registration begins

    Registration is now open for the 2010 youth baseball season for both minor and major leagues. Boys and girls, ages 7–11, are eligible to participate in the minor league, as long as they will not have turned 12 by June 1.

  • Ann Grote

    Longtime resident Ann (Amon) Grote of Yellow Springs died at her home on Thursday, April 15. She was 79. Ann was born on June 29, 1930, in Perrysburg, Ohio to Agnes and John Amon.

  • Soccer camp registration begins

    On Saturday, April 24, British Soccer Challenger Sports and Yellow Springs Soccer Inc., or YSSI, will hold a free hour-long soccer clinic at the Morgan fields, to give the community a preview of the upcoming summer camps.
