Mitzi Manny

Mildred “Mitzi” Manny, longtime villager and beloved member of the Unitarian community, died on Wednesday, June 24, of cancer at the Friends Care Community Extended Living Center, where she had moved after becoming ill.

Mitzi was born September 21, 1918. She was 91 years old and lived on Cedar Court in the Friends Care Community Independent Living apartments. She served as the minister of music and celebration for the Unitarian Fellowship, a position she held for 25 years. Mitzi was also an enthusiastic accordian player, and she and pianist Kevin Kelble teamed up for many years to perform on Wednesday mornings for Friends Care residents. Mitzi’s passions were music and art, and she also played the harp.

Mitzi was also known to friends as a lover of books and a joiner of groups. She was a longtime member of the Yellow Springs Community Chorus.

A celebration of Mitzi’s life will be held in mid-summer. The specific date, and an extended obituary, will be in the upcoming Yellow Springs News.
