- Published: March 15, 2011
The 17th annual McKinney Chili Cook-off drew about 150 tasters and 24 chefs who entered their recipes in the contest held at Yellow Springs High School on Saturday, March 12. There were chicken chilis, white bean chilis, chilis with cilantro and sour cream on top, and several chilis that set the place on fire with the heat of their peppers. Fuel was added by the Full Circle band with Scott Wright and his sons Blaze, a McKinney student, and Bear, who filled the room with classic rock tunes.
The event, sponsored by the McKinney/Yellow Springs High School PTO, raised raised over $1,000 for the McKinney School scholarship and teacher expense fund.
Lynn Hardman won the adult category, while Rachele Orme and Brianna Ayers won the student category. Taking home the coveted John Graham People’s Choice award were McKinney students Gabriel Day and Danny Grote.
