Ice cream and ukuleles beckon early summer

About 20 kids came to Corner Cone last Friday after school to strum away on their colorful new ukuleles. The dairy bar started a UkuNewbies club offering lessons every week for free. The youth learned techniques and played rounds while customers looked on with ice cream cones and frosties in hand.

Lessons are offered every Friday from 3:40–4:30 p.m.

it would be lovely if there were a larger place to play with nice restrooms and room to spread out a bit or perhaps have an overhead; there used to be classes in rooms at the gov. community center many years ago; i’m wondering if there would be any space in there for a bigger uke group to feel safe and expand; they have a terrific arrangement in Austin Ukulele Society and i bet yso could support something like that if there was local space available at the center or one of the area churches even. that art gallery is a tad smell and people need to spread out some so they don’t get a cold or nothing. all ages and levels playing music together is a wonderful concept and the uke is an easy instrument to learn. seniors, and i know yellow springs loves its senior citizens enjoy the ukulele as much as young learners do! aloha & lana ‘iʻo ka manaʻo
