A decline over the past several weeks in COVID-19 numbers for Ohio, Greene County and the 45387 ZIP code suggest that an anticipated mid-October peak may have been reached earlier than expected.
The YSHS Boys Soccer team, which is seeded at No. 1 among 25 area teams in post-season play, won its first tournament game, 16–0, Tuesday, Oct. 19, against Middletown Madison.

Pat Murphy, of Yellow Springs, passed away at Soin Hospital on Oct. 1, 2021, from pneumonia. He was 82 years old. A full obituary will appear in an upcoming issue of the News.
Joseph L. Dowdell, two-term mayor and longtime resident of Yellow Springs, passed away on Oct. 6, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital, after a brief illness. He was 86.
