  • Boys fall soccer meeting to be held

    The annual players’ and parents’ preseason meeting for the Yellow Springs High School boys soccer team will be held Friday, July 3, at the high school at 7 p.m. Any student-athlete interested in playing for the YSHS boys’ soccer team this fall should attend this meeting with his parents.

  • Summer open gym for girls basketball players

    The McKinney Middle School and Yellow Springs High School girls basketball program is offering open gym sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The sessions began Tuesday, June 23, and are open to any middle and high school girls interested in playing basketball.

  • Free adult soccer mini-camp offered

    Challenger Soccer British Soccer Coaches will teach a Mini Adult Soccer Camp, Saturday, June 27, 9:30–11 a.m., behind the Yellow Springs High School, on the practice soccer field. Parents/guardians can learn how to help their children improve their soccer skills.

  • New soccer coach

    Yellow Springs High School athletes who are interested in playing on the girls soccer team are asked to contact this year’s head coach, Angelo Caliguiri, for information about practices, scrimmages and parent meetings.

  • Thurlow Jefferson

    Thurlow Jefferson Sr. passed away on Father’s Day, June 21, surrounded by family. Thurlow was born in 1928 in Yellow Springs to Nathan and Lillian (Thompson) Jefferson.

  • Sagha Skinner

    Sagha Skinner of Yellow Springs died Tuesday, June 9, at his residence. He was 49. He was born March 25, 1960, to Thelma and Elliot Skinner in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Ohio in 1983 to attend Central State University.

  • David Landes memorial celebration planned

    Family and friends of David Landes will host a potluck celebration in his memory at the Glen Helen Building, Saturday, July 11, from 3 to 8 p.m. There will be music, stories, good food and good friends. All are welcome.

  • Mass for Umoja Bakari

    A mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 27, at 5 p.m., to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the passing of Umoja Iddi Bakari. All are welcome to join Umoja’s family in this memorial occasion, as well as for the reception to follow.

  • Clinic leaves town for now

    The Wright State physicians who operate the Yellow Springs Family Health Center at the corner of Xenia Avenue and Herman Street are temporarily relocating to Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia at the end of next month. According to health center Medical Director Cynthia Olsen, she hopes to unyoke the practice from a rapidly deteriorating facility and raise funds for a smaller, more efficient building in the same location as the original.
