Villagers revel at block parties

Five of the Village Human Relations Commission sponsored block parties took place yesterday around the northern end of town. At Carl Moore and Jim Zehner’s party on North Park Place, Rocket Rose contemplated chalky hands while Audrey Hackett and grandma Judith Hempfling chatted. Nearby, the “Creepingbear Cubs” traced Marcia Ridgley’s outline in the pavement.
More parties continue today at Spillan Road and Shawnee Drive from 3 to 7 p.m., at Robinwood Drive from 4 to 8 p.m., and at Southgate Drive from 5 to 8 p.m. Other gatherings will take place in September.
