Yellow Springs Police confirmed Wednesday morning, April 16, that Fire Chief Dennis Powell, 55, of Miami Township Fire-Rescue has died.

The proposed resolution stipulates that the Village may charge individuals or organizations $75 per hour of law enforcement video footage produced from body-worn cameras or police cruisers. The total charge per recording cannot exceed $750.

“The Music Man,” the district’s upcoming all-school musical — involving young thespians from kindergarten through 12th grade — will be staged Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Foundry Theater.

The Greene County Beekeepers Association will host Mike Connor, speaking on “Trees for Bees,” Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m., at Xenia Community Center, 1265 W. 2nd St., Xenia.

“While Muggins’ story is now one for the ages, her life as a captive bear in the public eye, from her Canadian origins to her tragic end … is one we shouldn’t forget.”

The Antioch School will hold its Spring Community Celebration Sunday, April 13, 2–4 p.m., with a special presentation at 2:30 p.m. The event was made possible with the support of the YS Community Foundation, Ohio Arts Council, Mad River Theater Works and 91.3 WYSO.

Junior Llnyah Grant ran personal best times in the Bulldogs’ first track meet of the year on Wednesday, April 2, at Shawnee in Springfield. Grant came away from the meet with second place in the 100-meter race and third in 200 meters.

The YS Film Festival will hold its second annual Mini-Fest this month; the Mini-Fest debuted last year as a prelude to the second annual full festival event.

The Saturday, April 12 event — which will feature live music as well as raffles — is intended to help fund local resident Amy Wamsley’s goal of swimming the English Channel, about which the News has reported in the past.
