A special screening of the documentary “Call of the Scenic River” will be featured at the Clifton Opera House on Friday, July 13, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ohio being the first state to pass Scenic River Protection legislation.

The Yellow Springs Theater Company will open the third annual “Summer Shakespeare Shindig” with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” this weekend. Performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays, July 13, 14, 20 and 21, beginning at 8 p.m.

Victor C. Nieset of Elyria, Ohio, passed away at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland on Sunday, June 24, 2018. He was 78.

Ernest Russell Heston died on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 7:40 a.m. He was 91 years old.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Fred Rogers’ work in television neighborhoods across the country. As the documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” premieres at the Little Art this weekend, special events have been planned in celebration.

In two separate incidents on Saturday, June 30, three people were robbed at gunpoint while hiking in the Glen Helen Nature Preserve, according to the YSPD.
