Julia Poole Hutchison, a former Yellow Springs resident, died Monday, April 12 at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. She was 88. Julia was born June 9, 1921, to Elbert and Jenny Poole.

The YSHS boys track team travelled to two meets last week, finishing sixth at Tipp City on Tuesday, April 13, and coming in third at Friday’s Kenton Trace Conference invitational meet.

The Miami Valley Track Club will start its summer track and field season on Monday, May 10. The first week will be for elementary school age athletes only.

Registration is now open for the 2010 youth baseball season for both minor and major leagues. Boys and girls, ages 7–11, are eligible to participate in the minor league, as long as they will not have turned 12 by June 1.

Longtime resident Ann (Amon) Grote of Yellow Springs died at her home on Thursday, April 15. She was 79. Ann was born on June 29, 1930, in Perrysburg, Ohio to Agnes and John Amon.

On Saturday, April 24, British Soccer Challenger Sports and Yellow Springs Soccer Inc., or YSSI, will hold a free hour-long soccer clinic at the Morgan fields, to give the community a preview of the upcoming summer camps.

A memorial celebration of the life of Ellie Ridinger will be held in the dining room of Friends Care Center on Wednesday, April 28. Friends may gather any time after 2 p.m. to view slides and mementoes of Ellie’s life.

The developing girls golf team at YSHS is seeking donations of clubs. Those who would like to donate old clubs, or who have clubs they would be willing to sell below market value, may contact Jim Orme at 767-2441.
