VIDEO – Dayton Mandolin Orchestra plays Garcia’s “Passages through Mexico”

On Sunday, Nov. 7, the Dayton Mandolin Orchestra played a joint concert with the Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra from Kalamazoo, Mich. Among the songs they played were three pieces written by locally-born composer Victor Garcia Jr., called”Passages through Mexico.” The concert was held at Herndon Gallery at Antioch College.

Members of the Dayton Mandolin Orchestra (Directed by James Johnston) are, playing mandolin, Dottie Palsgrove, Devin Campbell, Tex Shirley, James Kellaris, Hans Stauffer, Kathryn Hitchcock, Terry Seiler, Vera Yukl; mandola, Michael Hitchcock, Glen Courtright; mandocello, Yvonne Wingard, Doug Daegele, Matt Minde; guitar, Rose Wendel, Mark Hoffman, Dwight Sutton; and bass, Mike Ruddell.

Members of the Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra (Directed by Miles Kusik) are, playing mandolin, Jackie Zito, Robert Abromowitz, Nancy Arnold, Ron Cleveland, Judith Finnegan, Vince Gallant, John Hosley, Tamara Skidmore, Jane Vaught; mandola, Vivian Abromowitz; and guitar, Miles Kusik, Sharon Soltesz.
