Play for the Bulldogs

The fall sports season at Yellow Springs High School starts soon and opportunities for recreational play abound. See the practice schedule information below and contact Athletic Director Steve Rossi to join a fall sport at 513-608-8980.

SOCCER: FC Springs Travel Team
Open try-outs for a boys’ U-14 (under 14 yrs. of age by July 31, 2011) are being held Monday & Wednesday, August 15 and 17 from 5:30 to 6:30pm at Gaunt Park. Interested players should be on time, wear cleats & shinguards, and bring lots of water and a #5 ball (if you have one)!

FC Springs is a competitive traveling team and will play 8-10 games (about 1/week, with half played in Yellow Springs) beginning Thursday, August 25.
Ideally team members play both parts of the fall/spring season, however players may participate in fall only if other commitments exist. There is a $90 registration fee for fall to pay for referees and to defray the cost of uniforms, equipment, and field maintenance needs. Call Coach Bill Hardman at 767-8433, or e-mail hardmansoccer@sbcglobal.net for more information.

SOCCER: Recreational League Registration
Registration for the Yellow Springs youth recreational soccer program will be held Saturday, August 27, 3:30 p.m., at the Morgan Fields. A skills clinic will follow at 4:00 p.m., featuring instruction from the YSHS girls and boys varsity soccer teams. All youth players 1st grade and older should plan on attending the clinic dressed ready to play. Forms for signup will be handed out at the registration, but will also be available at the Yellow Springs Library, Mills Lawn Elementary School, and the Antioch School.

Anyone interested in coaching or volunteering should contact Lynn or Bill Hardman for Gold Cup (6th through 8th grade) at 767-8433, Angela Moore for Silver Cup (4th & 5th grade) at 767-2175; or Bob Curley for Bronze Cup (1st through 3rd grade) at 767-7070. Copper Cup players (3 yrs old through Kindergarten) do not need to register or attend the skills clinic. They can simply come to play at the Morgan Fields at 10:30 a.m. beginning Sat., September 10.

Games will begin on Friday evening September 9 (Gold Cup only) and Saturday morning September 10 (all others). If unable to attend the registration, please contact the respective league coordinator prior to August 27. Late registrants may not be assigned to a team until after the season starts.
