Local family buys Eco•mental
- Published: September 2, 2011
Rhonda and Jason Newsome of Yellow Springs have purchased the local environmental product store Eco•mental from former owners CJ Williams and Nancy Grigsby. The Newsomes took over the store last week, and are hosting a re-opening celebration Friday, Sept. 2, from 2–4 p.m. at the store, located at 257 Xenia Avenue.
The Newsomes, who both grew up in Yellow Springs, will continue the store’s eco-friendly theme, although they will add “vibrant, modern, fun” items, according to Rhonda Newsome. She is also interested in adding more products for those who want to make their own cheese or beer, along with mushroom gardens.
The former owners sold the store, which they opened in November 2007, due to family matters and a desire to return to her previous occupation of social work, Williams said last week. Rhonda Newsome had worked at the store for several months this spring and summer, filling in for Williams.
