Century bridge

Students in Linnea Denman’s kindergarten class at Mills Lawn got a special visitor on their 102nd day of school: Lloyd Kennedy, who is 102. Kennedy spoke with the students and shared what life was like when he was their age. The students were surprised to learn that Kennedy and his family had to raise their own food, which was stored in an ice box (with an actual block of ice for cooling), that he had no indoor plumbing and had to walk about a mile to school. This was all fascinating, but the students were most impressed that Kennedy had once met Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
