Merry marchers, friendly fire on the Fourth

Villagers and visitors didn’t let gloomy skies and the occasional raindrop thwart their Fourth of July on Monday. In the afternoon, the annual parade drew curbside crowds and candy-seekers. And at night the fireworks persevered, creating a gauzy landscape of color, smoke and humidity. (Photos of the march by Diane Chiddister; of the fireworks by Matt Minde)
