The annual neighborhood block parties, sponsored by the Human Relations Commission, or HRC, will take place in Yellow Springs the weekend of Aug. 18–19, Villagers who want to organize a party for their neighborhood are urged to contact HRC member Patti Dallas as soon as possible at pattidallas22@sbcglobal.net.

The purpose of the events, which are in their third year, is to promote community, according to organizers.

Parties are already planned for the neighborhoods of Davis/Whiteman/Phillips, Omar Circle/Talus Drive, Meadow Lane, Stafford/Union, Whitehall/Fair Acres, Kings Court, Golden Willow Court and Walnut/Cliff/Cemetery streets. Those who plan a party receive from the HRC a voucher from Tom’s Market, an emergency neighborhood contact form, chalk for decorating sidewalks and streets and name tags provided by the Yellow Springs News.

For a more detailed story on the block parties, see the Aug. 2 issue of the Yellow Springs News.
