Climb for a cause

About 90 people from the community and area emergency response agencies came to Antioch College for the Miami Township Fire-Rescue department’s first 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday morning, Sept. 27. Donning the badges of the 343 fire fighters who died during the Trade Center terrorist attack in 2001, participants, some in full turn-out gear, climbed the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs through the college’s North Hall dormitory. As they finished each rang a fire engine bell and announced the names of those they carried with them. The event raised approximately $11,000 for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation that supports the families of those who have died in the line of duty.
