Home Inc. Cemetery Street home open house today

The second home in the four-home Cemetery Street project, a collaboration between the Village and Home, Inc., to increase affordable housing in the village, is now finished. An open house for the community will take place today, Friday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the house, 138 Cemetery Street. The open house will also introduce the community to the home’s occupant, first-time home buyer Julie McCowan and her family.

McCowan has worked as a CNA, or certified nursing assistant, at Friends Care Community for 27 years, but has never before been able to buy a home in Yellow Springs. She will live in the house with her partner, David Benning, her 15-year-old son and 11-year-old niece.
