Talk local food at potlucks
- Published: June 22, 2016
On Sunday, June 26, the YS Local Food Group will hold the first of a series of local food potlucks, beginning at 2 p.m. in the basement of the United Methodist Church. The potlucks will provide resources to help households purchase more food locally, show attendees how to prepare seasonal dishes with foods available at a farmer’s market or CSA and give tips for growing and preserving crops.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to prepare and share dishes made from locally-sourced foods. The first potluck will focus on spring crops, and Carmen Milano will begin the potluck by demonstrating the preparation of a few seasonal dishes.
Three more potluck meals will be held on the last Sundays of each month:
July 31, 2 p.m. — discussing summer crops
Aug. 28, 2 p.m. — discussing preservation
Sept. 25, 2 p.m. — discussing fall crops
