Local churches to host “Souper Bowl” events
- Published: January 24, 2018
Two village churches — First Presbyterian and Central Chapel AME — will host soup/Super Bowl-related events in February.
On Sunday, Feb. 4 — “Souper” Bowl Sunday — the First Presbyterian Church will finish building its “Great Wall of Soup.” With the community’s help, the church has built a wall of soup cans in its entry hallway, with the soup to be donated to the food pantry. Villagers may stop in Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–noon, or Sunday mornings until noon and add a can or two to the wall. The wall will be dismantled on Feb. 4 and the soup will be delivered to the pantry.
The Central Chapel AME Church Lay Organization will host a “Souper Bowl” luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 24 at noon. For $15, attendees will receive a custom-made bowl by Yellow Springs potter Bruce Grimes, and a choice of all the soup or chili they can eat. For tickets, on sale until Feb. 10, contact Kevin at kevmcgr@pipeline.com or 937-562-1938. The luncheon will continue until the soup and chili are gone.
