Graduation 2022 | Last steps, first steps
- Published: June 2, 2022
Last Thursday, on May 26, 65 Yellow Springs High School seniors walked under the arches to take their last steps as high schoolers and first steps into the wider world.
The ceremony included speeches by Principal Jack Hatert and Superintendent Terri Holden, as well as by student speakers Sophia Lawson and Joaquin Espinosa, who recounted the close-knit nature of their class. A short seven-minute video, spearheaded by Schell, documented the Class of 2022’s journey through photos, sound bites and video clips, from Mills Lawn School through McKinney Middle and YS High School times.
The car caravan through town and outdoor commencement ceremony — which had been established for the benefit of the Class of 2020 because of COVID-19 restrictions — was canceled due to poor weather, but feelings did not seem to be dampened; after the ceremony, newly minted graduates, family and friends feasted on sheet cake, punch and attention.
