School’s ghouls: Mills Lawn School Halloween parade

After a three-year hiatus, the long-loved Mills Lawn School Halloween parade returned Monday, Oct. 31. Students and faculty dressed in their Halloween best filed out of the school and down Xenia Avenue past an afternoon crowd of cheering parents and passers-by before looping back to school to wrap up the day and head into the evening’s festivities. On display was everything from samurai to elves, from memes to Minecraft. Notable were the hand-painted Van Gogh self-portrait and a surprising number of bananas.

  1. Gretchen Cady Kuhn says:

I remember the Halloween parade when I was dressed as Cinderella, the only store-bought costume I ever had. We marched in a big circle on the blacktop in back of Mills Lawn and the prize was a cake. I don’t remember who won but I remember it like yesterday. An THEN we took our grocery bags of candy to school the next day and ate candy during recess! It was around 1960.
