At its Dec. 14 regular meeting, the Yellow Springs Board of Education took its first step toward realizing the district school facilities improvements that were approved by voters last month.

This year, affordable housing nonprofit YS Home, Inc. reached two major milestones: The first phase of its upcoming 32-unit combined senior rental and all-ages, for-sale townhome development, The Cascades, was fully funded — and the nonprofit celebrated its 25th anniversary.

At the group’s most recent meeting Monday, Dec. 18, Village Council voted to automatically enroll all municipal utility customers in the Village’s Utility Round-Up program.

The Yellow Springs Kwanzaa Planning Committee has announced that this year’s community event will take place Saturday, Dec. 30, 6–8 p.m., at the John Bryan Community Center gym.

Approximately 20 acres on the CBE — which adjoin marijuana producer Cresco Labs and Antioch University Midwest, and which have been for sale for over 10 years — will be listed for $75,000-$125,000 per acre beginning mid-January, with Allison Moody as the listing agent.

At the group’s most recent meeting on Thursday, Dec. 14, the Village Planning Commission considered the possibility of loosening regulations on the 42 registered — and future — Airbnbs in Yellow Springs.

On Thursday, Dec. 14, the YS Federal Credit Union, or YSCU, tallied final votes from member-owners that would determine if the longtime local credit union would merge with central-Ohio-based Bridge Credit Union — and member-owners overwhelmingly voted “yes.”

Though the Yellow Springs School District hasn’t seen interruptions in providing bus services to students, the local district is not immune to the nationwide shortage.
