At the most recent Planning Commission meeting, Tuesday, Aug. 12, the group again turned their attention to Airbnbs — how many Yellow Springs can sustainably have, and more specifically, how close they can be to one another.

Local organizers are reviving a local tradition of civil discourse with a new Friday Forum event, “What Happens When Voices Are Silenced?” set for 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in McGregor Hall, Room 113, at Antioch College.

This month, the Peace Mask Project landed in Yellow Springs for a brief residency, and coordinators have been working with community members to make 50 masks of villagers’ faces.

The Clifton Gorge Music and Arts Festival returns Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22–23, bringing two days of food, music, dancing and handmade art to the small Greene County village.

The trustees unanimously rescinded and reapproved a resolution to proceed with a 3.8-mill Miami Township Fire-Rescue operations levy renewal for this fall.

Founded in 1946 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Troop 162, which includes members from Yellow Springs, has a long tradition of building youth leadership skills, encouraging ethical decision-making and, above all, having fun.

Joy Christine Bartenstein, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, passed away Aug. 8, 2025, surrounded by four generations.

Stephen Taylor Richeson passed away July 31, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on July 30, 1954, he made it one day past his 71st birthday.
