Kathie (Trollinger, Duffey) Jackson died Thursday, March 4, at the Greene Oaks Nursing Home in Xenia. She was 58.

Marion S. Meigs, former Yellow Springs resident and retired U.S. Army major, died on Feb. 3 in Chase City, Va. after a battle with cancer. He was 81. Local friends knew Major Meigs as “Marty.”

Walking down Xenia Avenue in early spring, particularly after such a tough February, is much kinder to the soul than driving through Los Angeles traffic, or walking a red carpet. We’re glad to be home from our Oscar adventure, grateful to our beloved hometown for all the support. We heard the Little Art was packed. Friends and neighbors have been asking what it was like. I’ll do my best to answer that question here.

Don Thomas McAllister of Yellow Springs died at Kettering Medical Center on Thursday, March 4, with his wife of 55 years, Patty, at his side. He was 78.

The Yellow Springs boys basketball team proved itself a contender outside the confines of the Metro Buckeye league by beating the sixth seed Springfield Catholic Central 55–53 in the Division IV sectional on Wednesday, March 3. And in an upset 40–37 loss to the fifth seeds, Franklin Monroe, on Friday, that’s where the advance stopped.

A memorial service will be held on March 13 for Jo Ann Molk, who died in February. The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. in the Glen Helen Building.
