  • A closer look at the Glen

    Nine of Glen Helen’s seasoned naturalists will lead a series of hands-on, family-friendly programs for Earth Day, Saturday, April 23, including a Tiny Things workshop led by naturalist Kathleen Soler, with Hannah Brewster at left.     The nine naturalists who came last August to live in Glen Helen and lead the preserve’s educational programs throughout the year have grown fond of their home in the woods.

  • Green Fair touts Earth care

    “We’re trying to change our lives,” event organizer Rob Content said in a recent interview. He looked at Jorie Sieck, a youth organizer, and added, “as grownups, this is a challenge.” Content thinks that events like the Earth Day Fair bring people together, and that working together is what makes personal change possible.

    Living Green co-owner C.J. Williams defines “green” as anything with a focus on sustainability that is good for the Earth and good for individuals. More than 20 tables representing green individuals, green businesses and green non-profits are confirmed for the day, she said.

    Called by the spring weather, Yellow Springs is organizing a weekend of events to get people thinking about how to respect the planet in honor of Earth Day coming up on April 22. The focus? Garbage! And energy! And compact fluorescent lightbulbs!
