Yellow Springs and Miami Township voters overwhelmingly supported their public school system on Nov. 5, agreeing to pass the district’s second levy in as many years.
At their meeting Thursday, May 9, the Yellow Springs school board approved the rosiest five-year forecast that they’ve seen in the past three years.
Local voters will decide on Nov. 6 whether to approve a property tax increase for the Yellow Springs School District.
Last week the Yellow Springs school board favored a 7.5-mill levy for the November 2012 ballot to bring in new money to the district and offset several years of deficit spending.
At their meeting Thursday, Dec. 8, Yellow Springs school board members and administrators initiated a discussion about options available to leverage income through new taxes.
A school tax levy is “a community thing,” according to organizers who are bringing Issue 5, an $8.7 mill renewal emergency levy, to the ballot on May 4.
