The new collaboration between Antioch College and the village is both a symbol of strong town-gown ties and a likely topic of conversation at this year’s Antioch College Reunion.
Antioch College President Tom Manley praised the way the college and Yellow Springs, both “extraordinary places,” support one other.
On a recent visit to Antioch College, architects from MacGlachlan, Cornelius and Filoni, who have designed for dozens of schools in the Northwest, noted the unique level of integration between the college and the village of Yellow Springs.
A women’s support group, bicycle co-op and senior auditing program were a few of the ideas Antioch College students came up with to tackle campus and community health problems during last semester’s global seminar.
About 50 people came to hear Deborah Meier and Shadia Alvarez, both progressive educators and Antioch alumni, speak at the Herndon Gallery on Antioch College campus Feb. 12.
